As well as mantaining a newbie functional gameplay flow. My own concerns are honestly preventing any game breaking event flag issues. But from what I've heard and read, the Sunbeam destruction event is still a part of the plot that will happen in one way or another. So, for instance, if you miss the first one or two messages then the Sunbeam could pass you by whereas if you miss the third message and/or beyond the Sunbeam event could happen without you knowing about it.
